One of the greatest shoots we have are with children who really want to engage, participate and enjoy themselves in a shoot. With Isabel, that’s exactly what we had. Isabel wanted to wear lots of outfits whilst jumping around, showing off her ballet positions and generally having a lot of fun. Whilst we only had a short time with her, it was a great time and we managed to get some wonderful images of her.
This image we called “Defiant” for obvious reasons. Whilst Isabel may look stern in this shot, what you don’t see is her fighting not to smile. Looking serious really doesn’t suit Isabel at all but that’s what we asked her to do for us as one of the main focus for our shoot was trying to achieve a “fine” art, Victorian style selection, but it turns out, just getting her to smile was far more fun.
This is one of our all time favourite images from the shoot, but unfortunately it’s out of focus. Normally images that aren’t in focus get binned but we just couldn’t bare to chuck this away as it shows just how much fun we had with Isabel. One of her many costume changes allowed us to play with movement and freeze her in the moment which is why we love it!
Another favourite of ours is this one, simply because it shows that however fast our children grow up, with all their new independent ideas and grown up attitudes, teddies are still something to be squeezed. With images like these, time really does stand still and allows us as parents to appreciate the little things.
We truly love this image and you may see it in a lot of our future marketing, why? Well just look at that face! The movement in this shot really does provide a sense that Isabel knows what she’s doing and when she realised that the images could be frozen mid spin, she threw herself into many more spins, turns and jumps. We would like to thank you again Isabel for being such a great little star and we all hope to photograph you again soon.
