Once you have beautiful images it’s only natural to want to display them in your homes, either as prints, canvas or frames but the issue many people face is “How big should I print?”
You would expect the answer to be the bigger the better, but this isn’t the case. It’s all down to personal taste, available space and of course the image itself.
If the image is going to be displayed in a living room above a sofa then ideally you need to go as large as possible. There is nothing worse than a small canvas trying to fill a large, bare wall with a huge sofa or table competing with the space. This is especially try if the canvas is going to be hung centrally.
Your image needs to create impact and interest when filling a wall.
How close are you going to be to the image? If the image is somewhere like a staircase or hallway then the print can be small to medium sizes because you’ll be closer to the image. For the biggest impact, think about where the viewer is going to be and choose a size that’s appropriate.
What is the image? If it’s an image of your newborns face then it might be best to keep it on a small to medium print as a large print of a face can be overwhelming especially in smaller rooms such as nurseries.
The larger the print the more space in the image is needed so that it doesn’t overpower the room it’s in. Something with plenty of background space that surrounds the subjects works perfectly on a large canvas.
